Electric car company Polestar will open its first UK showroom later this year at the Westfield shopping centre at London’s White City, Shepherd’s Bush.
Called a Polestar Space, the EV showroom will mirror other Polestar showrooms already open in Europe and China.
As Westfield London is Europe’s biggest shopping centre, the firm said the location for its first retailer was an obvious choice.
“With the first customer Polestar 2 cars soon to land in the country,” said Polestar COO Jonathan Goodman, “the next step in our journey is to open our first retail space and continue to engage with our growing customer base.”
The Westfield Polestar Space will open to the public in October 2020. It will boast, says the firm, “innovative design, technology, location and a seamless digital-first retail model”.
Auto retail group Endeavour Automotive is running the Westfield site for Polestar.
“The Polestar journey in the UK is tremendously exciting, and we’re proud to be a part of it,” said the firm’s chief executive John Caney.
Polestar specialists on site will be non-commissioned, and there to inform customers about the Polestar brand and its cars – not to chase deals and sell cars.
The idea is for customers to then go away and order their car directly online from Polestar.
The target is a “seamless and hassle-free customer journey” – backed by Polestar becoming the first electric car company to gain accreditation from The Motor Ombudsman’s Motor Industry Code of Practice for New Cars.
MotoringElectric will be driving the Polestar 2 electric car soon: come back later for our review of the firm’s Tesla Model 3 challenger.
